Can I TD an event? Yes, but you have to wait until December before we are ready to receive event registrations. Players will be able to sign up for your event in January.
If I ordered three discs, can I use all three during the Birdie Bash? No, you may only use two of the discs you get at the event.
Is there a map of all the events? Yes, http://vibram.usetopscore.com//
Do I get to pick my discs? Yes and no.
- You pick a driver or mid
- You pick a putter
- X-Link Medium or Firm
- You pick the weight
- Supplies may be limited
How do you know what shirt size to get me? When you register, you select your shirt size.
Do I have to use the discs I get that day? Yes! Even if you have other Vibram discs, to make it fair, you need to use these new discs.
How many divisions? Two. Men and women.
Should beginners play? Absolutely! This is a great way to get two high quality discs and enjoy a day of low pressure, high fun discing. Also, the second round groups are put together based on first round score and the winner of each group in the second round gets a bonus prize. So everyone will have a chance to win something!
How long is a Vibram Birdie Bash? It is two rounds and you will be shooting a limited number of shots per hole (usually just 2 or 3 shots). We estimate round one will take 1.5 to 2 hours, allow 1 hour for lunch and another 1.5 to 2 hours for round 2. If the event starts at 10 AM, it will probably be done around 3:00 PM or so.
Vibram Birdie Bash - $30
- Two Rounds
- Two Vibram discs OF YOUR CHOICE!
- One Shirt (S-XXXL)
- Birdies or better to earn points
- Two Champions Discs (top scoring man and woman)
- One Spirit Award Disc
- 2nd Round Card Prize: A VBB Sling Backpack
- Ace/Eagle: 5 points
- Birdie: 2 points
- Metal Hit: 1 point
- If no points are scored on a hole, the closest to the pin after two throws earns a point.
Example 1: A par 3. Your drive hits the basket but does not go in. You drain your birdie putt. You earn three points: 1 point for the metal hit on the drive, 2 points for the birdie.
Example 2: A par 3. Your drive goes way left and lands 150 feet away. Your 2nd shot is straight but low and hits the post. You earn one point and there is no need to putt out.
Example 3: A par 4. On your fourth shot, you tickle the chains and do not go in the basket. You get zero points since the shot that hit chains was not for birdie or better. As it turns out, there was actually no need to even throw the fourth shot, except for funsies.
Is there a cut-off date for registering events? Yes. You must register your event more than four weeks in advance of the event date.
Can I register an event outside the USA? Yes, although we put some extra constrictions on events outside the USA in order to allow for shipping. See below:
- Canadian Events: $32, registration closes one week earlier than normal
- UK/European Events: $38, registration closes one week earlier than normal
- Asian Events: Not this year, sorry.
Do players have to pre-register? Yes. Registration will close the Sunday/Monday midnight prior to your event. This is to ensure that they get the proper shirt size and discs. If you would like to get extra packs, you will need to register "dummy" players.
Can I get a complete set of Vibram discs for people to test, and to use as prizes or CTPs? Yes, order them during event setup.
Can I accept registrations in person? Yes, but you will need to register them online yourself so they get their player pack and the available spots is accurate.
Can I order extra player packs? Yes, but you must specify exactly what discs and shirt size to be put in the extra packs.
Can I run multiple events? Yes, there is no limit to the number of events one TD can hold.
Can events be run close to each other? on the same weekend? Yes, there are no proximity rules yet.
Can one course hold multiple events? Yes, but please make sure to differentiate them significantly when you register them.
Can we hold it on a 9 hole course? Yes, we would simply recommend playing through the course twice each round.
How can players learn about Vibram's discs? You can direct them to our Vibram Discs webpage.
Will I get a list of registered players with their shirt size and disc choices? Yes.
Will I be able to go online and view a list of current registered players? Yes.
Can I sell mulligans? Yes and no. In the first round yes, although we ask that you make them affordable ($1 each or so). In the second round no. In the second round, the players are competing against everyone in their group for a VBB Card Prize and mulligans don't quite seem fair in that head to head situation. We understand that this is not entirely logical, but it is our position, so there you go.
Can TDs play? Yes. we suggest putting yourself on a hole close to tournament central so you finish as one of the first groups back. Also, you should have a helper to collect score cards in case your group runs late.
Am I supposed to use the $5 to pay for lunch? Not unless you want to. This is money to you as a thank you. You can give it to the course fund, keep it, use it as a CTP or, help pay for lunch.
Will players be able to order the newest discs? All discs released prior to March of 2014 will be available in Medium and Firm.
Will I get an email when players register? No. You can always check player's registration status by going to "Registration List" in the admin area of your event. You can also use this area to export a player list to an excel spreadsheet.
